I have been filling my days off by contemplating/searching for the perfect starter home. Any of you homeowners have any suggestions or advice that you would like to share with me??
How exciting! When you find the house you like, go back to the house a few times at different times of the day. Check out the neighborhood and see if there are kids or dogs around. You want to make sure the area is safe. Jeff's financial advice is put10% down, and make sure your monthly payments are less than 25% of your take home pay. Let us know how the house hunt goes!
So fun! My advice would be to make sure you do a real inspection--my first time buying a house, my realtor suggested I save the $400, and instead had a friend check it out for free. Turns out there was a workshop that was against code and right after moving in, I had to tear the whole thing out. It was awful! If you ever need a friend's opinion, I love looking at houses! :)
