Time Zone

A spur of the moment trip to Sac-town was a much needed get-a-way from my mundane routine called life.  It was fantastic spending time with my good friend Kristen and seeing some sights of the suburbs of Sacramento, California.  Kristen was definitely selling the highlights of the valley to help persuade me in the idea of moving there.  We did a little shopping.  We enjoyed some good food.  The weather was overcast and rainy.  We saw 'Rango.' We took pleasure is sitting outside Sunday morning with a beautiful view of the Temple.  Her church building is on the Temple grounds.  I indulged in the baby grand piano at her house.

Upon my departure, we carefully planned the trip to the airport.  We did great on time.  Or so we thought.  I got dropped off at a very empty airport.  No one was at my ticket counter.  I went to Security.  In turn, they directed me to the operator.  They announced the need for help at my counter.  I informed the man: "I need to print my boarding pass."  His response: "I'm sorry you've missed your flight."  I look at him, shake my head, and say: "No, I'm an hour and fifteen minutes early."  He clears his throat: "No, ma'am, you've missed your flight.  It's daylight savings."  Bewildered I respond: "No, I calculated the time change with my plans. There must be a mistake."  He was pretty clear with me.  There was no mistake.  "What am I supposed to do now?" I say out loud.  The man says: "Next flight out is tomorrow morning."  WHAT?!?!?  I have to work tomorrow.  Surprisingly, I was much calmer that I had ever imagined I could be.  (Those of you who know me well, know that I am extra cautious about being on time to the airport.  I get really anxious about missing my flight.)  I called Kristen, I called my office manager at work, I called Jenna (my ride in AZ), and I called my sister, Rachel, and we worked out the situation.  It definitely wasn't ideal waking up at 3:30 the next morning to catch a 6 o'clock flight.  It was a very long work day, but it all worked out.

Memorable trip to Cali.
